Rodents, especially rats and mice, can carry a dangerous virus known as a hantavirus. Only specific types of mice and rats are known to carry the hantavirus. If infected, a person might develop a condition known as Hantavirus Pulmonary Condition (HPS). People become infected by being in close proximity to certain types of mice and rats. Symptoms include:
- Fever
- Severe muscle aches
- Fatigue
